Online parenting coaching that helps you understand your child's behavior — and your own values.
One-on-one coaching that helps you understand what's driving your child's behavior, set boundaries that hold, and parent from your own values — not a one-size-fits-all script.
Led by Dr. Rachel Gorham, Ph.D. — a parent coach whose focus has been families and children for over 25 years.
MY APPROACH
Parent from your own values.
In coaching, we’ll work together to help you parent from your own values — not from a script, a trend, or what you think you’re “supposed” to do. We’ll focus on what matters most to you and your family, and build tools that actually fit your real life.
Values first
We’ll start by getting clear on your values as a parent — what matters most to you, what you want your kids to learn from you, and how you want your home to feel. Then we’ll use those values as a compass for your parenting decisions.
Root causes, not just behavior
Instead of focusing only on “fixing” behavior, we’ll look at what’s driving it — your child’s nervous system, environment, relationships, and needs. We’ll work on tools that support regulation, connection, and long-term change, not just short-term compliance.
Your child’s voice counts
When you understand how your child experiences the world and bring their perspective in, support works better and home feels calmer.
Individualized recommendations
No generic checklists. Strategies are tailored to your child's temperament and your family's real life.
Culturally grounded
Your traditions, languages, and background are strengths to build on, not obstacles to “correct.”
Collaborative, not prescriptive
You’re the expert on your child. I bring training and tools; together we find what works.
What coaching can help with
I work with parents of kids with a wide range of needs and experiences.
Some of the most common things I help with include:

Tools for nervous system regulation and felt safety.
Gifted & twice-exceptional kids
Support for asynchronous development and intensity.
Boundaries & limit-setting
Setting limits with love, clarity, and consistency.
IEP & 504 advocacy
Navigating the school system for the support your child needs.
Multicultural & intercultural families
Navigating identity, values, and cultural expectations.
Heading 4
Emotional dysregulation
Understanding and supporting your child's emotional needs.
When parents parent differently
Finding alignment and shared values in your partnership.
Diagnoses & Neurodiversity
Understanding a new or existing diagnosis and what it means for your family.
WHO THIS IS FOR
Shared Ground is a fit for parents who are ready to work collaboratively and look beneath behavior to the heart of their child’s experience.
Parents have called me a “kid whisperer.”
Meet Dr. Rachel Gorham
25 years supporting
children & families
Rachel brings 25 years of experience working with children and families, including the last five years devoted to parent coaching — and clinical parent coaching. She holds a Ph.D. in psychology.
She has supported a wide range of families — different family makeups, cultural backgrounds, and socioeconomic circumstances — and brings that breadth to a coaching style that adapts to your family, rather than the other way around.
Her research on ADHD centered children's own voices — their lived experience — and how including that voice supports diagnosis, treatment, everyday functioning, and family harmony.
As a parent coach, her approach is practical and collaborative: aligning your parenting with your values and your child's temperament, improving communication at home, and helping you advocate confidently when school systems feel hard to navigate.
A note on scope
Shared Ground offers parent coaching — not therapy or diagnosis. Rachel coaches from her training and experience and does not act as a licensed psychologist or diagnose children. If something suggests there may be more going on, she'll say so and help you find the right next step.
